To check email, facebook, skype chat, twitter etc. each 20 minutes. Average skype message is of 1-3 words, "Enter" then again 1-3 words and skype icon blinks 3-5 times for our friend until 1 thought is finished. When You try to concentrate to do task for more than 20 minutes You find out that "there is very necessary question to ask right now" and You ask. The same is done by Your work companions to You.

So:

Cake cannot be cooked if oven is switched off each 20 minutes.
OR
You can do valuable job after longer concentration period - 1-2 hours.
OR
You are wasting Your day jumping through all sort of info in Your computer screen.

5 things what to do:

1. Priority list. List of Your projects ranked from 1 to 5 (with a note why project No1 is so important to You and No5 is not).
2. Day plan. Start a day with scheduling Your 3 major tasks of 1-2 hours. Your first task is of Your project No 1. Read more about what the day plan is or what is the aim.
3. Track time. When finished, when disturbed - enter time You worked. This will show if You have a) dedicated time for task, b) where concentrated c) got result.
4. Make adjustments according Your findings a) wrong priorities b) missed day plan c) not clear where time is lost.
